“Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit,he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”
In Greek mythology Antaeus is the son of Poseidon and Gaia. He was extremely strong as long as he remained in contact with the ground (his mother earth), but once lifted into the air he became as weak as water. The myth of Antaeus has been used as a symbol of the spiritual strength which accrues when one rests one's faith on the immediate fact of things.
How We Got Our Name
“Ulaleo” in Hawaiian means “a voice heard” or “spirit’s voice.” We liked both of these names!
The farming aspect of Antaeus-Ulaleo consists of 30 acres of rich, volcanic soil located approximately 2,700 feet above sea level on the Big Island of Hawaii. Here are reasons why it is an ideal place to consider for your wwoofing experience:

Woofers Needed!
Antaeus is about to begin an expansion program. Drop by or call to check out the fantastic opportunity to live and work in Hawaii! one rests one's faith on the immediate fact of things.
The purpose of WWOOFing is to create an interest and understanding for organic and biodynamic ways of living. In addition to this WWOOFing makes it possible for people to travel cheaply all over the world and, at the same time, to help where it is wanted and needed.
WWOOFing started about 35 years ago in the UK. It began thanks to Sue Coppard (who was at the time living in London), who wanted to organize a weekend stay helping out on an organic farm. Gradually more people became involved and enjoyed their weekend breaks in the countryside and more farmers offered accommodation and food in return for help and enthusiasm. Since then it has grown enormously and now exists in many countries worldwide.
About WWOOFing
There is bright sun most mornings. A tendency to overcast skies in the afternoons, and the 2,700 foot elevation make working more pleasant than farms at sea-level. Evenings in the winter can be cool, but we have lots of fires. Micro weather systems within our 30 acres are allowing us to experiment with growing papaya at 2700 elevation.
is a school and sanctuary for self knowledge and the harmonious development of human beings.
Antaeus – from Greek/Roman Mythology, the son of Poseidon (God of the Sea) and Gaia (Goddess of the Earth), drew eternally renewing strength from the Earth. Lifted into the air he became like water.
Ulaleo – Hawaiian, literal definition, “Spirit’s Voice”. At Antaeus-Ulaleo shout in the direction of Waipio Valley and your voice is echoed back to you.
